On behalf of the International Society for Peritoneal Dialysis, I would like to invite you to attend the 17th ISPD Congress in Dubai, 26-29 September 2024. This event will also be the start of the 40th anniversary year for ISPD – in the early years, meetings were held every 3 years rather than the current two.

The theme of the meeting is “Peritoneal Dialysis – Achieving Equity through Universal Access”.  This reflects the vision of ISPD: “A future in which PD is freely available and equitably accessible worldwide as a reliable, affordable, sustainable and life-saving option for patients with acute kidney injury or end stage kidney disease”. The meeting will reflect the multiprofessional teamwork needed to deliver high quality PD to our patients.  The programme is integrated with medical and nurse speakers.  And we are hoping for many nurses to attend reflecting the launch of our Associate Membership in January 2024.

This is the first time the ISPD meeting is being held in the Middle East and with transport links enabling attendance from Africa, both areas where development of PD would increase access to dialysis for many patients.  Recognising that nurse training is needed in these regions, we are organizing sessions for nurse training in PD  in both Arabic and French.
